Oggi inauguriamo una nuova rubrica dedicata all’arredamento ecosostenibile. Ti chiederai perché. Per una serie di motivi. Primo tra tutti, stare al passo con i tempi: c’è un interesse sempre più crescente sull’argomento, un’attenzione in aumento legata soprattutto al desiderio di lasciare ai propri figli un futuro più green. Ma c’è anche curiosità nel capire come sia fattibile la cosiddetta transizione ecologica.
Cosa si intende per ecosostenibile?
Per sviluppo sostenibile si intende “uno sviluppo che soddisfi i bisogni del presente senza compromettere la possibilità delle generazioni future di soddisfare i propri”. Il termine ecosostenibile si riferisce in modo particolare alla sostenibilità ambientale. Per quanto riguarda il mondo dell’arredamento, sono diversi i materiali considerati ecosostenibili. In questo articolo andremo ad approfondire quello che viene definito legno certificato.

Che significa legno certificato?
Il legno certificato è quello che ha il marchio FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) che identifica i prodotti che contengono legno proveniente da foreste gestite in maniera corretta e responsabile secondo precisi standard ambientali, sociali ed economici.
Ci sono due tipi di certificazione FSC: la certificazione di Gestione forestale – rivolta a proprietari e gestori forestali – e la certificazione di Catena di custodia che invece è rivolta alle imprese di trasformazione e commercio di prodotti forestali e riguarda tutte le fasi: dall’arrivo del legname in segheria, passando per la produzione dei semilavorati come ad esempio i componenti per mobili, fino al prodotto finito, vale a dire i mobili, i pavimenti, le porte e tutto il resto.
Il legno riciclato
Sempre nell’ottica della sostenibilità, il legno riciclato rientra perfettamente in questo concetto. Il legno riciclato non è altro che legno proveniente da scarti di lavorazione che può essere utilizzato in svariati modi. In sé, il legno è un tipo di materiale che è portato ad avere più di una vita. Un materiale che, accuratamente curato, può durare davvero a lungo. Basti pensare a quanti prodotti esistono in truciolato. Se un tempo questo materiale era visto come un ripiego di basso costo, ora assume un valore diverso in un ottica di sostenibilità. Ma non solo truciolato. Il legno, se accuratamente restaurato, può tornare a risplendere come nuovo o dare un effetto vintage vissuto.
Tavoli, scrivanie, mensole, oggetti di ogni tipo e perfino lampade, sono pensati, progettati e realizzati con materiali pensati per durare, che siano “amici” dell’ambiente senza rinunciare all’aspetto estetico, pratico e funzionale che deve avere ogni elemento di design.
